How much is CHF 5'000 gross after deductions?
Updated: 30.10.2026
On CHF 5'000 gross a month in Switzerland you usually keep about CHF 4'500 before tax. Here is the calculation item by item, using the official 2026 rates.
The mandatory deductions
- AHV/IV/EO (old-age, disability, income compensation): 5.3% of gross, employee share.
- Unemployment insurance (ALV): 1.1% up to CHF 148'200 a year.
- Occupational pension (BVG): depends on age and pension fund; savings are based on the coordinated salary and the employer pays at least half.
- Non-occupational accident insurance (NBU): premium set by the insurer, often 1–3%.
Example: CHF 5'000 × 12, age 30, NBU 1.2%
All results are non-binding estimates without guarantee. The statements of your employer, insurer and the authorities prevail.
| AHV/IV/EO per month | CHF 265 |
|---|---|
| ALV per month | CHF 55 |
| Minimum BVG per month | CHF 97.83 |
| NBU per month | CHF 60 |
| Net per month (estimate) | CHF 4'522.18 |
With 13 salary payments (CHF 65'000 gross a year) each payment is about CHF 4'516.24 net, but over the year you receive more: about CHF 58'711.10 instead of CHF 54'266.10.
What is not included
Holders of a B or G permit also pay withholding tax, which depends on canton, marital status and children. Many pension funds use higher BVG rates than the legal minimum, so always check your payslip.
