Switching health insurer by 30 November

Insurers announce next year's premiums by the end of October. To switch on 1 January 2027, your cancellation must reach your insurer by 30 November 2026.
The deadlines
- Cancelling basic insurance: must reach the insurer by 30 November. What counts is the date of receipt, not the postmark, so send it by registered mail by mid-November.
- Lowering your deductible or leaving an alternative model (family doctor, telemedicine): notify in writing by 30 November.
- Raising your deductible: possible until 31 December.
- Only with the standard CHF 300 deductible and the standard model can you also switch on 1 July (cancel by 31 March).
Before you cancel
- Join the new insurer straight away: your old cover only ends once the new insurer confirms you are insured.
- For basic insurance every insurer must accept you, without health questions. Supplementary insurance is a separate contract.
- The cancellation is void if premiums or cost sharing reminded by 30 November are not paid by 31 December.
